Zusammenfassung
Ausgangspunkt dieses Kapitels ist das Konzept der Entwicklungsaufgaben nach Havighurst, das sehr prominent geworden ist und dessen Grundideen bis heute weitgehend Gültigkeit besitzen. Thematisiert werden konkrete Entwicklungsaufgaben Jugendlicher, historische und kulturelle Einflüsse auf Entwicklungsaufgaben, Quellen von Entwicklungsaufgaben sowie geeignete Zeiträume für Entwicklungsaufgaben. Es folgt eine Darstellung der Identitätsfindung als zentrale Entwicklungsaufgabe des Jugendalters. In Ergänzung zu Entwicklungsaufgaben werden kritische Lebensereignisse und Alltagsprobleme als nicht normative Anforderungen an Jugendliche dargelegt. Die Bedeutung von Ressourcen und Schutzfaktoren für eine erfolgreiche Bewältigung von sowohl Entwicklungsaufgaben als auch kritischen Lebensereignissen und alltäglichen Stressoren wird angesprochen. Abschließend liegt der Fokus dann auf der Bewältigung der Anforderungen. Behandelt werden das transaktionale Modell nach Lazarus und Folkman, das Zusammenwirken von Anforderungen, Bewältigung und der psychischen Funktionsfähigkeit des Individuums sowie die Vorhersage einer erfolgreichen Entwicklung des Individuums infolge der Lösung von Entwicklungsaufgaben. Das Kapitel schließt mit Überlegungen zu möglichen Bewältigungsproblemen beim Lösen alterstypischer Entwicklungsaufgaben wie auch Möglichkeiten der Stärkung von Bewältigungsressourcen.
