ABSTRACT
We introduce a virtual ski jump system as indoor, experience-based entertainment. The goal of this system is an exciting, enjoyable, safe experience for an inexperienced person. The key of the system is the physical stimuli from below for realistic experience compared to other conventional systems. First, the variation of slope angle creates the illusions of slide down on the arc-slope. Second, the pendant of skis while jumping create a sense of gliding with the difficulty to keep the left-right balance.

JumpVR: Jump-Based Locomotion Augmentation for Virtual Reality
CHI '20: Proceedings of the 2020 CHI Conference on Human Factors in Computing SystemsOne of the great benefits of virtual reality (VR) is the implementation of features that go beyond realism. Common "unrealistic" locomotion techniques (like teleportation) can avoid spatial limitation of tracking, but minimize potential benefits of more ...
Augmented Winter Ski with AR HMD
AH '16: Proceedings of the 7th Augmented Human International Conference 2016At time of writing, several affordable Head-Mounted Displays (HMD) are going to be released to the mass market, most of them for Virtual Reality (VR with Oculus Rift, Samsung Gear...) but also for indoor Augmented Reality (AR) with Hololens. We have ...
Headset removal for virtual and mixed reality
SIGGRAPH '17: ACM SIGGRAPH 2017 TalksVirtual Reality (VR) has advanced significantly in recent years and allows users to explore novel environments (both real and imaginary), play games, and engage with media in a way that is unprecedentedly immersive. However, compared to physical reality,...
