ABSTRACT
“Ethernet” is the most common and popular access technology available today, and is by far the most widely used local area networking (LAN) technology. Ethernet has gained so much importance in networking that it is worth to say it as an industry standard for packet-based computer networking technology for LANs. It is considered the foundation of most wired communication networks and has become a network of choice to get the wired connection for homes and enterprises around the globe. In this chapter, we are going to learn about the concept of “Ethernet” as a historical journey and further analyze its impact on computer networking.
