  Question...

What if the work were a graphic and there is a business requirement to
present the best /view/ possible to each user based on their browser. For
instance a browser that could show tiffs would show a tiff, a browser
with no tiff rendering but with gif rendering would show a gif, a browser
running in a low resolution environment would show a low-res image, a browser
running in a high res environment would show a high res image, etc., etc.

My point is: what is displayed may be dynamically resolved at the
content supplier and therefore a need for a meta DOI may exist.
That is, a DOI that is "formless" but identifies a particular content item the
/form/ of which may vary. Should we register fourteen DOIs,
one each for the various formats: low res tiff, hi-res tiff, etc. and
also register a "formless" DOI?
