Notes:
The Internet has been chosen as the primary network infrastructure to support CIS and to connect the applications which are developed. It will be used to provide online access and data exchange to achieve a global virtual CIS database.
Recommendations for communication tools have been made which include Internet email for basic communication, Lotus Notes for the Standards Database and ftp for exchanging data between societies.
A CIS specific EDI standard has been produced to support fully automated data exchange between societies and the CIS applications.
