Schlussfolgerung

Das beyondblue National Postnatal Depression Program ist eine öffentliche Gesundheitsinitiative mit einer Laufzeit von vier Jahren. In dieser Dimension ist das Programm auch im internationalen Vergleich einzigartig. Die Initiative zielt darauf ab, ein Screeningprogramm zu entwickeln und zu evaluieren, das bestehende Ressourcen der Gesundheitsversorgung nutzt und dazu beiträgt, Frauen mit einem Risiko für präoder postnatale Depression zu identifizieren. Darüber hinaus soll das Programm zu einem besseren allgemeinen Verständnis für Depression beitragen, die Partnerschaft zwischen Frauen und ihren BehandlerInnen stärken, und die Diagnose und Behandlung von Depression verbessern. Das beyondblue National Postnatal Depression Program bietet einen innovativen und einzigartigen Ansatz, gynäkologische und postpartale Betreuung in einem ganzheitlichen Sinn zu verbessern, indem der Nutzen und die Probleme von breit angelegten Screeningmaßnahmen für prä- und postpartale Depression evaluiert werden. Gerade weil solche Screeningmaßnahmen auch im internationalen Maßstab kontroversiell diskutiert werden, geht daher der Nutzen weit über Australien hinaus.
