11.10 Conclusions
The use of one or both ITAs as in-situ grafts is now recognized as the cornerstone of coronary artery bypass grafting. Complex techniques using a combination of ITAs and other arterial conduits have evolved to provide complete arterial grafting for most patients. Less invasive techniques are being developed to reduce the cosmetic deformity and the physiological impact of bypass surgery. The durability and clinical outcomes of these newer procedures require further evaluation before they can be recommended for general use.
