The PPVT-III is a test of auditory comprehension and is a measure of English hearing vocabulary.
Description
The PPVT-III is one of the most commonly used standardized tests that was first published in 1959 [1] revised in 1981 [2] and again in 1997 [3] with updated norms and illustrations. The PPVT-III is an individually administered, norm-reference, test of hearing vocabulary and designed for individuals ages 2–6 through to 90+ who have reasonable sight and hearing [3]. The PPVT contains four practice items and 204 test items. Items are arranged in 17 sets of 12 in order of increasing difficulty. Each test item each contains four simple black and white illustrations. The examiner says a word and the examinee’s task is to select the corresponding picture that they considered best illustrates the meaning of the stimulus word presented [3].
