Managing the NHS

  • Chapter
Just Managing

Part of the book series: Economic Issues in Health Care ((EIHC))

Abstract

It is our purpose in this penultimate chapter to bring together, with a view to explaining, the issues raised both by our own research findings (presented in Chapter 3) and those of other researchers (described in Chapter 4). In so doing, we hope to provide a robust analysis of contemporary NHS management as we move through the 1990s. Chapter 6 then looks to the future and assesses the likely implications of the changes arising from the NHS White Paper, Working for Patients, which were introduced in April 1991.
