Theories of Gamma-Ray Emission from Pulsars

  • Chapter
Cosmic Gamma-Ray Sources

Part of the book series: Astrophysics and Space Science Library ((ASSL,volume 304))

Abstract

This chapter presents some theoretical models to explain gamma-ray emission from pulsars from regions within and beyond the light cylinder. In particular, the gamma-ray emission resulting from the interactions between pulsar wind and their surrounding medium is considered. The contribution of pulsars as unidentified gamma-ray sources is also discussed.
