Abstract

Pleural diseases in the elderly are a heterogeneous group of processes that take place in the pleural space, ranging from life-threatening to innocuous. This review focuses on the surgical management of pneumothoraces in compromised patients, parapneumonic effusions and empyemas, malignant effusions, and mesothelioma.
