    Rebound tenderness is pain that is exacerbated when the physician presses down on the abdomen and then suddenly releases, generating a “rebound” when the abdomen returns to its baseline position.

  2. 2.

    If the red blood cells in a specimen hemolyze (burst), they release potassium, which can cause an inaccurate elevation in the measured potassium value.

    The serum is the liquid that is left when the cells are removed from whole blood.
