Abstract

Our interest in this area stems from the extensive studies we reported on the dispersions of iron species (ions, atoms, etc.) in various vitreous silicates1,2. One of our objectives in studying superparamagnetic systems has been to devise novel synthetic methods for controlling the particle size of the magnetic species by “stuffing” them inside some cage structures.

Early phases of this work were supported by the AEC [Contract AT(30-1)-2581]. Details of this work will be published elsewhere.
