Abstract
Although stress is an inescapable component of life and its adverse effects in some individuals at some times are well appreciated, these effects have never been systematically investigated from a clinical point of view. In particular, the effects of stress on organic illnesses, as for example, cardiovascular disorders, are not fully appreciated.
