Abstract

The computer network is the core of the infrastructure that facilitates communication between the computers, printers, laptops, and other devices that the company uses. When personal computers were first introduced to the office, the network limited communications to the computers that were physically in the office. As time progressed, these networks connected to the internet, allowing communication with other organizations and the outside world. Today, the computer network has much more than just computers on it. The network at a company today could have security cameras, door locks, badge readers, telephones, call center wall boards, cash registers, printers, scanners, customer computer kiosks, and of course employee computers.
