Abstract

Rupturing an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) has undoubted significance to an individual’s athletic pursuits and remaining life. Early surgical management is commonly encouraged and supported by health system funding. The recovery period is long and arduous. The two primary surgical approaches are hamstring- and patellar-tendon autografts, but the more effective of the two, along with the potential value of many other surgical approaches, remains unclear.
