Abstract

This chapter presents a history of cognitive psychology as a discipline that emerged in the twentieth century. It begins with how it developed in part as a counter approach to behaviorism and how cognitive psychology addresses some of the same issues as the disciplines of quantum physics and computer science, which were emerging at about the same time as cognitive psychology. The chapter also provides an overview of how information is stored in the human brain.
