Part of the book series: TEUBNER-TEXTE zur Physik ((TTZP,volume 26))

Abstract

Properties of plasma are controlled by both the hydrodynamical parameters and the Coulomb type interaction of charged particles in plasma. The ideal plasma is called to be such a plasma in which the Coulomb coupling energy is neglegible compared with the kinetic energy of particles in the plasma. The measure of discrepancy from the ideality is accepted to be the coupling constant of plasma thought as the ratio of the mean interaction energy of neighbouring particles to their mean kinetic energy. The coupling constant of an ideal plasma is considerably less than one. The plasma, the coupling constant of which appears to be greater than one is referred to as the non-ideal or strongly coupled plasma.
