Zusammenfassung

Auf Anfrage Immanuel Birnbaums, des Vorsitzenden des Münchner Freistudententischen Bundes, hielt Weber am 7. November 1917 den Vortrag Wissenschaft als Beruf (MWG I/17, 49 ff.). Weber sagte, im Gegensatz zur herkömmlichen Darstellung (ebd., 118), bereits im Frühjahr 1918 zu, einen zweiten Vortrag über Politik als Beruf zu halten. Zum Thema hatte es derzeit einen Disput zwischen Werner Sombart und Friedrich Naumann gegeben, der Weber interessierte (ebd., 113 f.).
