Ob als Kommentator der Pisa-Studie, verschrobener Held oder manipulativer Fiesling in einem Spielfilm, Talkmaster, Erziehungsberater oder Trostspender-Psychologinnen und Psychologen sind ein fester Bestandteil der heutigen Medienlandschaft. Sowohl in fiktionalen als auch in nichtfiktionalen Medienformaten sind psychologische Themen Teil der medialen Agenda. Das vorliegende Kapitel unternimmt den Versuch, Art und Umfang der Präsenz der Psychologie in verschiedenen Medienkontexten zu bestimmen und die Rollen von Psychologinnen und Psychologen in den Medien auszuleuchten. Das Verhältnis von Psychologen und Journalisten wird kritisch analysiert und potenzielle Konfliktherde werden identifiziert. Ethische Richtlinien, Guidelines und Tipps am Ende des Kapitels bieten nützliche Hilfestellungen für den praktischen Umgang mit den Medien.
