Abstract

There is no good conventional fungicidal control for Fusarium crown and root rot (FCRR) of tomatoes caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. radicis-lycopersici Jarvis and Shoemaker (FORL), but Jarvis (1977) suggested that the disease would be amenable to control by biological means, perhaps in a similar way to the use of suppressive soils to control wilt-inducing formae speciales of Fusarium oxysporum, (Louvet et al 1981; Cook 1982), or by the augmentation of soils with substrates conducive to suppressiveness.
