Spectroscopy of Vibrational and Rotational Levels of Diatomic Molecules in Rare-Gas Crystals

  • Chapter
Inert Gases

Part of the book series: Springer Series in Chemical Physics ((CHEMICAL,volume 34))

Abstract

This chapter is mainly concerned with the dynamical properties of diatomic molecules in rare-gas crystals. However, the reader will also find a concise description of the most important results in spectroscopy and of the corresponding theoretical ideas. As a matter of fact, an accurate knowledge of the molecular and lattice energies is necessary for undertaking a comprehensive study of their dynamical behaviour. The dynamics of vibrational levels of matrix-isolated molecules is a rapidly growing subject, so I hope that no important papers have escaped my attention!
