Abstract

A review of the status of nucleon-nucleon scattering at intermediate energies is given. It is found that the tensor component of the N-N force is still poorly determined by the data. This is followed by recent results from high precision experiments at IUCF and descriptions of work in progress. The data are compared with phase shift analyses and potential model predictions. Technological advances that have improved our ability to make precise measurements of spin observables are discussed.

  12. I use A for the analyzing power, C for spin correlations, D for spin transfer to the scattered particle and K for spin transfer to the recoil particle. Subscripts N,L,S refer to measured particle polarizations in the direction normal to the scattering plane, or longitudinal and sideways with respect to particle momentum, respectively. A translation table between various notations can be found in F. Arash, M. Moravcsik and G. Goldstein, Phys. Rev. D. 32, 74 (1985). Detailed definitions can be found in J. Bystricky, F. Lehar, and P.
