An Interlayer Model to Describe the Physical Properties of Particulate Composites

  • Conference paper
Controlled Interphases in Composite Materials

Abstract

A unified approach is presented to describe the shear modulus, bulk modulus, thermal expansivity and the dielectric constant of composites with interfacial layers. The physical properties are expressed as functions of the filler, matrix and layer properties and their respective volume fractions. The solutions for the static shear modulus and the dielectric constant are converted into dynamic solutions. The expressions for the dielectric constant and loss factor are extended by incorporating the conductivity of the constituents.
