Clusters as a Key to the Understanding of Properties as a Function of Size and Dimensionality

  • Chapter
Physics and Chemistry of Finite Systems: From Clusters to Crystals

Part of the book series: NATO ASI Series ((ASIC,volume 374))

Abstract

The exploration of size effects in conjunction with surface phenomena in clusters builds bridges between molecular, condensed matter and surface chemical physics. Cluster size equations are advanced, which quantify the “smooth” evolution of condensed matter properties and of microscopic surface characteristics with increasing the cluster size.
