Abstract

M2 M3 and M4 plants of Vicia faba derived from an M1 variegated plant characterized by a dicentric chromosome were analysed by cytologic and phenotypic methods. Genomic structures with dicentric, telocentric, ring and metacentric chromosomes, and triploid plants were found. Mutants for sterility, earliness, plant height and leaf shape were also identified. The results show that in this species a wide range of variation can be induced by a dicentric chromosome.
