Abstract
Forming or metal forming is one of the most prominent metal working processes of fashioning metal parts and objects through mechanical deformation, i.e. the mass of the workpiece remains unchanged. The Non-axisymmetric stretch flanging is a type of metal forming operation where a part is reshaped into a desired shape as per requirements so as to enhance aesthetic appearance of components. The application of this NASF process varies from small domestic utensils to large ship hulls and aircraft body structures. There exist various parameters say Punch-die clearance, Width of flanges, Blank holding force, Co-efficient of friction, etc., that have to be considered during this operation and the optimum values of these parameters vary depending on type of material that is being used for a particular application. So the main aim of this paper is to carry out FE simulation of two such parameters say punch-die clearance and punch-profile radii and investigate their effect on maximum circumferential strain (CS) of AA-6061-T6 metal blank through finite element simulation software ABAQUS/CAE 6.13.
