Abstract

In the history of industries, from beginning, technological advancements have modernized manufacturing and caused a jump in industrialization. The Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR), popularly known as Industry 4.0, embraces advanced technologies. The production of high-quality goods at lower prices and variety of products could only be possible with advanced production tools and techniques. The main objective of Industry 4.0 is to bring out intelligent robot, smart factories and cyber-physical systems (CPS). This present chapter basically focuses on the concept of Industry 4.0 and highlights the contribution of emerging technologies in this modern era known as Industrial Age. The chapter also discussed the history of all industrial revolutions with the transformation caused by 4IR and its effect on business organizations and society as a whole.
