Abstract
Point-of-care (POC) examination secures quick assessment of analytes in patients’ samples promoting a more reliable disease diagnosis, management, and control. It also allows for fast clinical decisions, because the disease might be identified in the early stages to enhance the health issues, and the patient might begin the medication on time. The available literature showed that several possible POC tools have been fabricated for next-generation POC diagnosis. Biosensors are extremely significant elements of POC tools directly accountable for the bio-analytical performance of laboratory experiments. The nano-biosensor is a category of biosensors and has played an essential role as manageable or moveable devices in the quick analysis of disease in clinical practice such as POC devices. Mostly, nano-biosensors have been developed with the recognition of a biological molecule fixed upon the signal transducer surface. The heterogeneous reaction has occurred between the bio-recognition molecule and the analyte of the biological samples. Therefore, the performance of nano-biosensors depends on the designing of the bio-sensing interface such as biomaterials, immobilized molecules, reacting agents, etc. Nano-biosensors might help in the rapid diagnosis with valuable cost and are easy to use with very high sensitivity and specificity. In this chapter, we have explored nanotechnology in the fabrication of nano-biosensors with prevails aims for POC diagnosis of various types of cancers.
