Abstract
The shaping of the new world order following the end of the bipolar order can be seen as the principal megatrend of the twenty-first century. It can be defined as a mega-process at the highest level since the contents of global development will hinge on who determines the foundations of the new world order, its base institutions, the structuring of relations within the new world order, and who plays the decisive role in that order thereby influencing the politics of other actors.
