Summary
Silica surfaces have been modified by reaction with ClSi(CH3)2CH2-CH2-C6H4CH2Cl (I) and the solids were used in conjunction with Et2AlCl to initiate the surface-graft polymerization of isobutylene. Experimental conditions have been defined to obtain respectable grafting rates, grafting ratios and grafting efficiencies.
