Summary
A relatively simple method for the surgical treatment of retinal detachments due to equatorial giant tears is described. The technique consists of (1) a modified silicone cerclage, (2) injection of Ringer's solution or hyaluronic acid and (3) photocoagulation. The results are reported and indications and contraindications are elaborated.
