Abstract
The thermal evolution of gels, glasses and ceramics of various more or less refractory compositions (Al2O3, 3Al2O32SiO2, 7Al2O33SiO2, Al2O32SiO2, Al2O32SiO20.7B2O3, Al2O32SiO22B2O3, Al2O32SiO26B2 O3) have been studied by dilatometry, DTA, and helium density measurements. Comparison is made for materials prepared by rapid (powder) or by very slow gelation (optically clear monoliths). The influence of atmosphere sintering (air, H2, vacuum) is reported. Densification and kinetic laws are discussed.
