Summary
We prove the following extension of classical Burkholder-Davis-Gundy inequalities: let (X n ) n∈N be a martingale; for p≧1, in order that \(X^* ( = \mathop {Sup}\limits_{n \in \mathbb{N}} |X_n |)\) and \(S(X)( = [X,X]^{\tfrac{1}{2}} = (\sum\limits_{n \in \mathbb{N}} {(X_{n + 1} } - X_n )^2 )^{\tfrac{1}{2}} )\) belong to L p, it is sufficient that Inf(X *, S(X)) belong to L p. For «regular» martingales this result holds for p>0.
