Bulletin of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, Division of chemical science Aims and scope

Summary

  1. 1.

The route for the formation of ethane from ethanol on titanium oxide has been studied at temperatures from 360 to 410° and alcohol flow rates of 0.25, 0.50, and 0.75 h−1 in the presence of labelled ethylene of high specific activity (31,200 counts per minute in 1 mg BaCO3).

  2. 2.

In the reaction conditions ethane is-formed only by hydrogenolysis of ethanol, and not by hydrogenation of ethylene.
