Conclusions

A study was carried out on the feasibility of synthesizing isomeric 3-nitro-4-phenylfuroxane and 4-nitro-3-phenylfuroxane by means of the trifluoroperacetic acid oxidation of the corresponding isomeric 3-amino-4-phenylfuroxane and 4-amino-3-phenylfuroxane.

3-Nitro-4-phenylfuroxane, which is the first reported 3-nitro derivative of furoxane, was synthesized.
