Torsion of a flattened tube

Abstract

The torsion of a hollow cylinder with elongated cross-section is studied theoretically by an efficient eigenfunction expansion and modified point-match method. The effects of the geometric parameters on torsional rigidity and maximum shear stress are determined.

Si studia la torsione di un cilindro cavo con sezioni trasversali allungate, mediante una espansione in autofunzioni ed un metodo di “point-match” modificato. Sono determinati, infine, gli effetti dei parametri geometrici sulla rigidezza torsionale e sulla tensione tangenziale massima.
