Abstract
Talc-garnet-kyanite-quartz schist occurs in an eclogite-bearing terrane in the Precambrian of Western Tasmania. It is argued that this rock was formed at a pressure of ⪚ 10 kb and a temperature of 600°±20° C.
Chemical zoning in the garnet and talc preserves evidence of increasing temperature during growth of the major minerals.
