Responses of bulbar reticular units to hypothalamic stimulation in the rat

  • Published:
Acta Neurovegetativa Aims and scope Submit manuscript

Summary

Extracellular unit action potentials were recorded from the bulbar reticular formation of the rat. Among 115 spontaneously active neurons 20 were accelerated, and 16 were inhibited by a repetitive electrical stimulus in the posterior hypothalamus, and 6 neurons responded to such stimulation in a biphasic manner by exhibiting post-stimulatory rebound.
