Summary

Pain receptors respond to a wide range of physical and chemical stimuli. Their sensitivity is increased by inflammation. Chemical excitants of pain receptors include exogenous substances, which are foreign to the body, and endogenous substances which occur naturally in the body. Endogenous pain-producing substances include acetylcholine, HCl in gastric juice (at pH<3.0), potassium ions, 5-hydroxytryptamine, and plasma kinins, e. g. bradykinin. These may be released from ruptured cells or formed in body fluids by injury. Many endogenous chemicals may contribute to the pain of disease.

Zusammenfassung

Schmerzrezeptoren antworten auf mannigfaltige physikalische und chemische Reize. Ihre Empfindlichkeit nimmt bei Entzündung zu. Chemische Reize für Schmerzrezeptoren enthalten exogene Substanzen, welche für den Körper fremd sind, ebenso endogene Substanzen, welche normalerweise im Körper vorkommen. Endogene schmerzerzeugende Substanzen sind Acetylcholin, HCl im Magensaft (bei pH<3.0), Kalium-Ionen, 5-Hydroxytryptamin und Plasma-Kinine, z. B. Bradykinin. Diese können von beschädigten Zellen freigegeben werden oder bei Läsionen in Körperflüssigkeiten auftreten. Viele endogene Chemikalien können zum Schmerz bei Krankheit beitragen.

Les récepteurs de la douleur répondent à une large gamme de stimuli physiques et chimiques. Leur sensibilité est augmentée par l'inflammation. Les excitants chimiques des récepteurs de la douleur comprennent des substances exogènes, étrangères au corps, et des substances endogènes qui se trouvent habituellement dans le corps. Parmi les substances endogènes qui provoquent la douleur, on peut citer l'acétylcholine, l'acide chlorhydrique du suc gastrique (à un pH inférieur à 3,0), les ions de potassium, la 5-hydroxytryptamine et les plasmakinines, par exemple la bradykinine. Ces substances peuvent être libérées par des cellules endommagées ou être sécrétées dans les liquides du corps par suite de lésion. De nombreuses substances chimiques endogènes peuvent contribuer à la douleur dans les affections douloureuses.
