Summary

A procedure has been developed for the induction of root or shoot formation from root meristems of germinated seeds ofPetunia hybrida. Root formation was obtained on Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium supplemented with a combination of 6-benzylaminopurine (BA) (0–0.5 mg/l) and naphtaleneacetic acid (NAA) (0.05–2.0 mg/l). Induction of predominantly shoot formation was obtained on MS medium containing the following combinations of hormones (in mg/l): 0.05–0.5 NAA and 0.25–2.0 BA. Complete plant formation was obtained after rooting of the shoots on MS medium supplemented with IAA (0–2.0 mg/l) or NAA (0-0.5 mg/l).
