Abstract
The influence of higher order contributions to the correlation function of the intensity fluctuation in a Laser near threshold is investigated by solving the Fokker-Planck equation. It is found that higher contributions have to be taken into account slightly above threshold, i.e. the noise spectrum of the intensity consists of several Lorentzian lines. It is shown that, to a good accuracy, one can introduce an effective Lorentzian line, the width of which is 25% larger than the width of the first Lorentzian line slightly above threshold.
