Zusammenfassung
-
1.
Summary
Chromosomes, relationships, and evolution of tropical woody plants, I. General references.
-
1.
Karyological studies on tropical woody Angiosperms are essential for the systematics of the group, for an understanding of the evidently distinctive tropical evolutionary patterns, and for the elucidation of ecological-geographical differentiations in tropical floras and their temperate derivatives.
-
2.
Towards these problems our beginning series of contributions is directed. Arranged family-wise the series will contain karyological data, other complementary research, and literature surveys.
-
3.
Results will be based on critically determined and sufficiently documented material from natural habitats (table p. 33).
-
4.
Some principles for the systematic evaluation of karyological data are discussed: progressions, basic chromosome numbers, evolutionary mechanisms etc.
