Abstract
In this study, the dependence of the characteristic X-ray intensities on the counting geometry has been investigated for a radioisotope excited XRF spectrometer. The collimation factor for the source-sample-detector geometry, which was prepared for an annular type109Cd radioisotope source, has been determined both theoretically and experimentally. The discrepancy between the theoretical and experimental results is discussed in terms of possible sources of errors.
