Summary

Initial results from an ongoing study of the productivity in three herds of camels are presented. The effects of different management systems, traditional nomadic vs. commercial ranching, on growth, fertility and early mortality are described as well as the differences in the genetic potential of two types of indigenous camels.

Résumé

Les premiers résultats d'une étude en cours sur la productivité de troupeaux de chameaux sont exposés. Les effets des différents modes d'élevage (élevage nomade traditionnel et élevage industriel) sur la croissance, la fertilité et la mortalité des jeunes sont décrits ainsi que les différences entre le potentiel génétique des deux types de chameaux indigènes.

Resumen

Se presentan los resultados de un estudio en progreso sobre la productividad de tres grupos de camellos. Se describen los efectos de diferentes sistemas de manejo, nómada tradicional vs comercial, relacionados con crecimiento, fertilidad, mortalidad temprana, y se habla del potencial genético de dos tipos de camellos indígenas.
