Summary

Insulin stimulates the glucose uptake ofTetrahymena pyriformis. This shows the presence of insulin receptors inTetrahymena, consequently receptors may be present in a level of phylogenesis, where the natural contact between the given hormone and the cell is unnecessary and impossible.
