Summary
The trial was performed in order to study the action of CCC ((2-chloroethyl)-trimethylammonium chloride) on the tuberization of sections of potato tuber sprouts of the varietyBintje grown in vitro. Three dosis of the retardant (50, 5 and 1 ppm) were used alone and in combination with gibberellic acid 1 ppm. Early tuberization was induced by CCC in relation to the control. Gibberellic acid reversed the effect of CCC and induced tuberization later, wether it was applied alone or in combination with the retardant. (Fig. 1). It is proposed that the stimulant action of CCC was carried out through the inhibition of the synthesis of gibberellin-like substances in the growing sprouts.
