Abstract
We propose a method for investigation of the stability of shells under the action of forces and thermal factors that is based on relations of the geometrically nonlinear theory of elasticity and the moment scheme of finite elements. For the case of uniformly heated restrained cylinders, we demonstrate the efficiency of the method and the validity of the results obtained. We analyze the distinctive features of deformation of the investigated class of shells.
