Stress relaxation and mechanical equation of state in austenitic stainless steels

  • Published:
Metallurgical Transactions Aims and scope Submit manuscript

Abstract

Stress relaxation experiments have been performed on types 304 and 316 stainless steel at room temperature. The stress-strain rate data show that these materials exhibit the behavior of mechanical equation of state. The experimental results are discussed using the concept of internal stress.
