Spin density in Fe-Pd alloys

Summary

Two alloys of the Fe-Pd system have been studied in the disordered state by means of polarized neutrons, Fe0.51Pd0.49 and Fe0.30Pd0.70; the latter was also studied at an intermediate degree of order. The alloy spin density radial distribution was found to be very similar to that of Fe, although the bands have electrons from both Fe and Pd. The asphericity was determined and found to be in fair agreement with the results of a coherent potential approximation calculation. In the case of the partially ordered alloy the individual site form factors were obtained and compared with those deduced from the data measured in ordered PePd3 by other authors.

Due leghe del sistema Pe-Pd sono state studiate con la diffrazione di neutroni polarizzati, Fe0.51Pd0.49 e Fe0.30Pd0.70; questa ultima è stata pure studiata ad un grado d–ordine intermedio. Si è trovato che la distribuzione radiale di spin nella lega è molto simile a quella nel Fe, sebbene le bande contengano sia elettroni del Pe che del Pd. Si è trovato ehe l–asfericità è in discreto accordo con quella calcolata con l–approssimazione del Potenziale coerente. Nel caso della lega parzialmente ordinata, sono stati ottenuti fattori di forma dei singoli siti e eonfrontati con quelli dedotti dai dati ottenuti da altri autori nella lega ordinata PePd3.

Исследуются два сплава Fe-Pd системы, Fe0.51Pd0.49 и Fe0.30 Pd0.70 в разупорядоченном состоянии с помощью поляризованных нейтронов. Сплав Fe0.30Pd0.70 также исследуется в состоянии с промежуточной степенью упорядоченности. Было обнаружено, что радиальное распределение плотности спина в сплаве очень похоже на распределение в Ре, хотя зоны имеют электроны от Fe и Pd. Обнаружено, что асферичность хорошо согласуется с результатами вычислений в приближении когерентного потенциала.
